Ever wondered how your Go Glam Nail Stamper works with a simple press? It’s all thanks to gears! Gears are round discs with notches around the end called teeth. When a gear turns, its teeth connect with a mechanism making it move. Sometimes a gear’s teeth connect with another gear’s teeth making that gear turn too! Let’s make some gears, connect some teeth, and bite into fun!
Parental supervision required.
Download and print the pattern, then use scissors to cut it out.
Place the paper patterns on a piece of cardboard and use a marker to trace them.
Cut out your cardboard gear shapes and place them together. See how the gears interlock?
Tie one end of the string to your small item and glue the other end to the larger gear.
Place your interlocked gears on a piece of cardboard, then press a thumbtack into the center of each gear to secure it to the cardboard. Now turn the smaller gear and watch what happens to the eraser on the larger gear. If your eraser moves, congratulations, your gears work!
